Customs & Import Duties

Buyers are responsible for any customs or import duties. In most cases, Fu are declared as "cultural artworks/paper handicrafts" with minimal or exempt duties, but this varies by country.

Lost or Delayed Shipments

If your shipment is significantly delayed (14+ days past estimate) or shows as lost, please email us and we will assist with tracking or arrange a replacement.

Refundable Situations

• Cancellation requested within 24 hours of ordering and production has not yet begun
• Fu arrives severely damaged during transit (photo evidence required)
• Item received significantly differs from the order description

Fu (符籙, Fú Lù) are among the most important traditional calligraphy artworks of Chinese Taoism, with a history spanning thousands of years. "Fu" refers to classical calligraphic writing inscribed on a medium; "Lu" refers to classical registers of Taoist cultural heritage. Together they represent a unique form of hand-inscribed traditional Chinese cultural art.

Origins of Fu

The use of Fu dates back to the pre-Qin era, was systematized in the Han dynasty, flourished in the Wei-Jin period, and reached its height during the Tang and Song dynasties. Major Taoist sects including Zhengyi Qingwei and Maoshan each developed their own distinct Fu traditions.

How Fu Work

Taoism holds that all things in the universe are composed of Qi (energy), pervading heaven and earth. The inscription of a Fu is the process by which a master channels the power of specific deities or the righteous energy of heaven and earth into the art paper, creating a unique cultural artifact rooted in Taoist tradition.

Fu power derives from three levels: ①Sacred characters and imagery — every stroke corresponds to a divine name or cosmic energy; ②The master's cultivation and lineage — the inscriber's attainment guarantees the Fu's power; ③Consecration ritual — the complete altar ceremony, incense, chanting, and sealing activates and locks in the Fu's energy.
